Equine Facilitated Learning is a ground-breaking effective form of Personal & Professional Development

When undertaking EFL you will begin to explore the personal issues, core feelings, limiting beliefs and thought patterns with their corresponding bodily tensions that prevent you reaching your true potential in life and really being happy.

Read the 5 Key Benefits of undertaking EFL with Angela further below.

In order to fully benefit from the insights and changes that can arise during either workshops or private sessions of Equine Facilitated Learning, I recommend people approach this work with a view to regular sessions over a period of time. This is when the work is most effective and beneficial and also provides you with an ongoing structured framework of support and guidance.

"I had an experience so profound, I know my life will be changed forever.

Thank you Angela and the wonderful horses for your patience and gentle guidance".

Gill, Rutland

Who is Equine Facilitated Learning suitable for?

Equine Facilitated Learning is for anyone seeking deep and profound insight into themselves and looking to make changes in themselves and their lives. It is particularly helpful if you are going through major life transitions, e.g. divorce, career change, relocation, etc.  Or you feel dissatisfied with your life and feel a sense of having lost touch with who you really are.

EFL has been found to be effective in helping people suffering with anxiety and depression; often key symptoms of being disconnected to your true self and your true feelings. Alongside working with your counsellor or therapist, EFL can be tremendously beneficial in helping people understand their anxiety, learn to modulate their arousal level and discover their true self and feelings once more.

In addition to this, through the nature of Equine Facilitated Learning, this work can also help equestrians develop deeper and more effective connections with their horses. Please see below for more information about EFL for equestrians.

How does Equine Facilitated Learning work?

It takes time and repetition of positive experiences to breakdown and replace destructive patterns of thought and behaviour. During EFl the horses continually ask us to be authentically connected to our feelings and body. They show moment by moment when we loose that connection and then beautifully reward us when we re-gain it; along with a stronger sense of our self.

Through a combination of gentle and safe interactions with the horses and supportive discussions with Angela you will learn how to:

  • Identify conditioned thought and behaviour patterns that keep you stuck in life
  • Learn how to access and express your authentic emotions
  • Use Emotions as a valuable source of information and wisdom
  • Understand your own and others' non-verbal forms of communication
  • Set appropriate boundaries to take care of yourself and respect others' boundaries
  • Balance your Masculine and Feminine; your Yin & Yang
  • Develop more flexible relationship skills
  • Stay present and centred no matter what the feeling or situation
  • Enhance your intuition and creativity
  • Balance reason and intuition
  • Develop and manage your sensitivity.

5 Key Benefits of undertaking EFL with Angela and the horses:

1) You will uncover deep seated, core issues which affect every aspect of your life and prevent you fulfilling your true potential

2) You will receive a tremendous level of support, guidance and insight; essential to help you move through this process

3) Angela's deeply intuitive and sensitive nature enables her to help you access your buried core feelings and needs and gently guide you back to your true self

4) You can reach these deep seated issues more quickly through EFL than talk-based therapy alone therefore making more change possible

5) You will receive a meaningful balance of experiential time with the horses and time to process feelings and insights that arise both in and between sessions.

Speciality areas of interest:

Trauma; especially early childhood trauma

Angela is particularly interested in working with people who are seeking healing from trauma in their lives.

Trauma can be defined as any incident or experience outside the normal realm of experience and which has a deep and often long term impact on the person.

Many people suffer traumatic experiences especially when young and in early childhood. These experiences range from being overlooked, not being given full attention and not having their basic needs met, often referred to as "Hidden Trauma"; through to abandonment, neglect, cruelty and physical and/or sexual abuse. Many people often don't realise that their experiences have resulted in traumatic symptoms which persist sometimes into adulthood and then begin to manifest in destructive behaviours and beliefs about themselves and the world.

One of the most problematic and key symptoms of trauma is dissociating from the present moment and from the body and its feelings. Engaging in body-oriented work with the horses on a regular basis helps people begin to re-connect with their bodily sensations and recognise their authentic emotions, sometimes for the first time, enabling people to be more present, safer and more effective in their life.

Highly Sensitive People

Angela is interested and experienced in working with people who view themselves as being highly sensitive. As a high sensitive she understands the issues holding people back from fully engaging with life and the world, and can effectively help people move to a place of better understanding of how their sensitivity affects them and how to make it work for them. Angela is particularly interested in working with highly-functioning highly sensitive people; those who have begun to thrive in their lives and wish to develop their effectiveness and leadership qualities.

Please note:

EFL is not psychotherapy and is therefore not suitable for anyone with active mental health issues without their therapist's consent.

EFL requires no previous horse experience and there is currently no ridden work involved.
